The disc stack separator is also called disc separator. It is a device that rapidly separates solid and liquid through high-speed centrifugal force. The alias is also called disc centrifuge or conical plate centrifuge, which belongs to a type of vertical centrifuge. The disc separator is driven by a motor and rotates at high speed. In the bowl of the disc separator, there is a set of disc-shaped parts nested with each other-commonly known as discs. There is a small gap among the discs, which are used for centrifugal sedimentation of materials. The suspension (or emulsion) to be processed enters the bowl of the disc separator through the feed pipe. When the suspension (or emulsion) flows through the gap between the discs, the solid particles (or droplets) settle on the disc under the action of the centrifuge to form a sediment (or liquid layer). The sludge slides along the surface of the disc to separate from the disc and accumulates in the inner bowl where the diameter is large, and the separated liquid is discharged from the bowl through the liquid outlet. For the 3-phase disc separator, there are two centripetal pumps inside, which can discharge the two immiscible liquid phases having difference densities. The role of the discs in the disc separator is to shorten the settling distance of solid particles (or droplets) and expand the effective settling area of the bowl so as to greatly improve the production capacity of the disc separator. The solids accumulated in the bowl can be discharged through the automatic slag discharge mechanism without stopping the machine. By using the disc separator, solid-liquid-liquid 3-phase separation or solid-liquid separation is realized.
The separated material enters into the heart of the machine, that is, the inside of the bowl. Under the action of strong centrifugal force, the material passes through a set of disc bundle separation intervals. With the neutral holes of the disc as the interface, the liquid with larger specific gravity moves along the disc wall towards the outside the neutral hole, where heavy slag accumulates in the sediment area, and the heavy phase liquid flows upward to the centripetal pump; the lighter liquid with a smaller specific gravity moves along the disc wall into the neutral hole and converges to the lower centrifugal pump. The light and heavy liquid phases are discharged by the lower centrifugal pump and the upper centripetal pump respectively; the heavy slag is regularly discharged; continuous production is implemented.
All parts contacting with the material are made of high-grade stainless steel, which effectively reduces the chemical interaction between the separated material and the surface of the contacting part. The separated light and heavy phase liquid materials are output by two centripetal pumps of different sizes. This machine adopts upper feeding, which has lower inlet pressure on the material. Hydrodynamic coupling and a pair of helical gears or belt drive are used in the power transmission. The speed increase is stable and overload protection can be performed.
The slag discharge action of the sliding piston is automatically controlled by a PLC fully automatic control cabinet specially designed with safety protection devices. It is high level automation, strong adaptability for process adjustment, and convenient adjustment, low noise and good separation effect. Professionally designed centripetal pump system is with stable output pressure, large adjustment range and easy operation.
The 2 phase disc stack separator is used to separate the fine particles from the liquid and discharge clarified liquid. Compared with decanter centrifuge, the G force of 2 phase disc stack separator is much higher than decanter centrifuge. The disc stack separator G force is up 12000g. Generally, the G force of the decanter centrifuge is about 3000G. The high speed and G force makes the disc stack separator to produce high clarified liquid. However, the materials separated by disc separator should not have high solid content or big particles. Usually the particles content should be less than 3%, it's better to be 1%. Therefore, in some application, pre-treatment will be carried out by decanter centrifuge or other separation equipment, and then clarification and separation will be carried out in the 2 phase disc stack separator. The 2 phase disc stack separator is widely used in vegetable oil clarification, biological and chemical pharmaceutical industry, dairy and beverage industry, biofuel and marine oil clarification, etc.
The material to be clarified enters the bowl through a feed pipe. In the distribution cabinet of the disc separator, the material is smoothly accelerated until it is synchronized with the speed of the rotary bowl. The disc stack in the rotating cylinder divides the material into many thin layers, forming a large area of clarification area. The high-speed centrifugal force makes the solid slag separated from the liquid in the disc stack deposit into the solid slag collection cavity at the edge of the bowl. The self-discharging 2 phase disc separator can be adjusted according to the material.
