A disk centrifuge separator is a machine used to separate different components of a liquid mixture based on their density In the food and beverage industry, disk centrifuge separators are commonly used to separate solids or fats from liquids.

The disk centrifuge separator also called disk stack separator is a kind of vertical centrifuge that can separate solid-liquid and liquid-liquid quickly and continuously. The rotating drum is installed on the upper end of the vertical shaft and driven by a motor through a transmission device to rotate at high speed.

The separation process in a disk centrifuge separator involves spinning a set of disks at high speed to create centrifugal force, which causes the heavy phase to move towards the outer edges of the disks while the light phase particles move towards the center. The separated components can then be collected separately.

The disk separator is specially used for two-phase and three-phase separation. The two-phase separation is to separate the suspended solid from the liquid or separate two liquids that have different specific gravity and are immiscible. The three-phase separation is to separate the two immiscible liquid phases and a phase of solid at the same time.

Disk centrifuge separators are particularly uthe food and beverage industry because they can handle large volumes of liquid and can separate solids with a high degree of efficiency, leading to improved product quality and reduced production costs. Operating principles

Separation takes place inside a rotating bowl. The feed is introduced to the rotating centrifuge bowl from the top via a stationary inlet pipe (1),and is accelerated in the distributor(2),which was specially designed to ensure smooth acceleration of the feed liquid(4). Leaving the distributor, the feed enters the disc stack(3). The separation into liquid-liquid-solid takes place between the discs, with the oil phase moving through the disc stack to the centre. When it reaches the centre, it is discharged through hole (5) and ejected into the collecting frame. The water and heavy solid separated from the oil move to the periphery, and the water flows via channels in the top disc(6) to the paring chamber, where it is pumped out of the rotor by means of a built-in paring disc(7).During purification, hot water is fed into the inlet of the bowl before the process liquid is introduced. The water forms a seal around the outer edge of the top disc. The solid collect in the periphery where they are discharged intermittently via the centrifuge cyclone. The solid are discharged by means of a hydraulic system, which forces the sliding bowl bottom(8)to drop down at preset suitable intervals, thus opening the solid ports at the bowl periphery

How it works
the disc centrifuge separates solids and one or two liquid phases from each other in one single continuous process, using extremely high centrifugal forces. When the denser solids are subjected to such forces, they are forced outwards against the rotating bowl wall, while the less dense liquid phases form concentric inner layers. The area where these two different liquid phases meet is called the interface position. This can be easily varied in order to ensure that the separation takes place with maximum efficiency. Inserting special plates (the "disc stack") provides additional surface settling area, which contributes to speeding up the separation process dramatically. It is the particular configuration, shape and design of these plates that make it possible for a disc stack centrifuge to undertake the continuous separation of a wide range of different solids from either one or two liquids. The concentrated solids phase formed by the particles can be removed continuously, intermittently or manually, depending on centrifuge type and the amount of solids involved in the specific application.

Fruit and vegetable oil separation and purification:
